Daily habits that move you forward ... One of my many goals is daily movement and always pushing further than the last workout. My favorite way to physically reset is a hike with weight on my back (otherwise know as rucking). Working out gives me a release that allows everything to come back to neutral. After finishing up a challenging ruck this evening I am ready for a great night sleep and an early morning to get the most out of my day. Post workout bliss 🙌🏽 I'm a huge fan of the 30 min strength workout. It's something you can do everyday without overtraining, ruining joints and creating too much stress response from your system. Vary the exercises each day but stick to the fundamental movements us humans do - Squat, Bend, Push, Pull, Lunge, Twist. Today's session 🤛 Stretch and mobility - 5 mins on mat. Changing plans. Sometimes, it can cause anxiety to "skip your workout" when it has been part of your daily plan. When is it simply an excuse - not prioritizing your health and fitness, and when is it listening to your body and positively modifying plans? LISTEN CLOSELY - you'll know. I "should've" been training pull-ups and some overhead work, however, I got behind schedule with the kids this morning (sleep-ins outweigh ALL else 😉), it's a gorgeous sunny day, and my glutes were begging for a little stretch after some heavy lunges yesterday... so training got replaced by 25 mins of #sunshineyoga on the deck 😎☀️❤️. Your body wants to move every day, but unless you're a competitive athlete, changing up that movement schedule throughout the week is always OK 👌🏼. GETTING REAL WITH YA: I have not been satisfied with my exercise habits since I began working full time. Not having enough time, or energy, to incorporate movement or strength training into my day as I did when I was on a flexible schedule REALLY gets me down. It’s hard. I’m still learning. But it’s a season, life is fleeting, SO for now I am content and happy and I CELEBRATE: •My health for what it currently is •The fact that I can still take walks to get my body moving when I don’t have energy to go to the gym •I’m loved by myself and those around me ____________________ When I look in the mirror and complain that “I look different than I did 2 months ago,” I will remind myself of these things, because life is too dang short.
