Today I completed my 3 day liquid fast going over the set time of 72 hours reaching a total of 84 hours!! I’m actually amazed I made it this far! No exogenous ketones this time! just water, tea and black coffee! This has been the longest fast I have done 🙋🏼‍♀️ I feel incredible, flooding with energy and mental clarity - my brain is on 🔥 I did not find myself struggling to progress with my daily routine and exercise, if anything the total opposite. I got up each morning feeling lighter and more revitalised. 🙋🏼‍♀️✨ (What I need to implement next time is calming tea before bed as I found it quite hard to shut my mind down.) There is a big misconception amongst many that fasting is to ‘starve the body’ when matter of a fact; you give your body the time to cleanse, reboot and heal itself and when you next consume a nutritious meal after the completion of a fast the nutrients from food has a better chance to absorb into the blood stream instead of dumping on top of accumulated waste. Prolonged periods with no food for us to break down allows the body to conserve more energy and allocate that energy towards healing our bodies on a deep cellular level while boosting our human growth hormone, strengthening our immunity and metabolism as well as helping to eliminate the waste, toxins and nasties.✨ 💚 I did my research in advance with how I should break my fast, preparation is key before we grab our hands on anything! Don’t go reaching for that donut or pizza!We want the best source of nutrients which is easy to digest, allowing our digestive system enough time to adjust back to normal while increasing the level of enzymes. My choice came to celery juice with half a lemon and ginger and blueberries. Celery juice helps to alkalise the body and lemon in fact turns alkaline when we ingest it! Fasting does require discipline but gives us willpower, it helps us to be more consciously aware of our eating habits and temptations, learning to have more control over the mind. I’m considering to make a three day fast a monthly habit. Before, during + after a 3 day liquid fast. I was bloated because of all the fried food I was eating. For 3 and a half days I only consumed liquids. If there was any fruit product, it was mainly water (watermelon, concord grape juices). The first photo is a couple hours into the liquid fast. I did my typical week of workouts (weights and calisthenics). The second photo is at the end of day 3rd of my liquid fast after working core day. The last photo is after I had one meal for the day after 5pm. I can say although fasting is difficult, it's enjoyable. I feel light, clear and eager to extend the fast. I've done a week long fruit only fast, which left me wanting to be a fruitarian, but the way how New York is set up ... Anyway, I recommend people take a break from food and see what it does. As someone who typically eats one meal a day (when I'm out of state/vacation I eat probably two meals with snacks in between), I was shocked to see the results. I didn't think I'll be that hungry considering I don't eat much anyway, but parasites are a real thing. You got this. I'll be doing this again pretty soon once I get my supply of Haitian mangoes. You'll realize we don't need to eat as much as they say we do.
Today I ate about 600-700 calories (or might be even more since I don't know how much calorie my lunch was). I ate two non-liquid things (a cookie and risotto) but my stomach got better so I think I'll eat one or two solid meals a day 1. because I have food at home which I don't want to throw out and 2. Green juice for dinner. I was talking with a friend last night about intermittent fasting which I’ve done before but I’m going to start doing it more often. It’s when you m choose to not eat but just drink liquids at certain point of the day for at least 12-14 hours, some go longer. By the time I eat tomorrow it will be 15 hours of fasting for me. There’s so many many great benefits of intermittent fasting but you have to make sure you eat right when you do and drink non sugary drinks when you fast. Starting a liquid fast tomorrow! I want to drink around 300-500 kcal/day because I ate too much crap in the past few weeks and my stomach hurts constantly 😕 Fasting helps me to heal I guess. And I'm also hoping to loose some weight because I feel bloated and huge and I have a dress that I have to fit in because otherwise I have to buy an another one and I don't really want to spend money on it.
