However it is true that they are usually high in carbs/saturated fats/sugar/sodium and lack in nutrients 👎 This is why I personally recommend to make your favorite treats yourself because you can improve the nutritional value so much 👐 And once in a while you can still get the real version.. You might actually end up craving the homemade #nutrientdense version more 😉 My veggie burger version is a perfectly balanced meal high in fiber to keep me fuller for longer 👍 I bought the patty already made from Coles homebrand. When I eat, I choose the most nutrient dense foods. Our bodies are high performing machines. If we want them to run optimally we must fuel them with the finest ingredients & eat responsibly. My father who is a nutritionist taught me this at a very young age, he taught me to love & respect my body through movement & eating the finest quality foods. Do me a favor if you haven’t already & forget the SAD (standard American diet) food pyramid, it is sad indeed & incorrect! Instead focus on a nutrient dense pyramid! At the top of the nutrient dense pyramid is organ meats & below that is grass fed #beef. Here I am enjoying a grass-fed Wagyu steak. Why is grass fed more preferable than grain fed meat? Cows that are grain fed are usually treated inhumanly & in filthy conditions leading to sickness. These cows are then treated with antibiotics & pumped with hormones to grow bigger, faster, stronger (hmmm, sounds like a film I know 🎥🤔), just so the food industry can produce more food & make more money. These cows are filled with toxins & live brutal lives. These toxins & negativity can then be carried over to our bodies. #Grassfed cows are treated humanely, in sterile conditions, eat grass & aren't given antibiotics & hormones. The quality is far better & contains more nutrients & healthy fats. Isn't grass fed more expensive? Yes, it is a little more expensive. However, when you eat a nutrient-rich diet you end up eating less food. Nutritrient dense foods are more satiating & you will likely start to produce ketones. Which means your body will start burning fat more efficiently even at rest & you will be able to go for longer periods without eating, have more energy & enhance your cognitive & physical performance & improve your mood (just to name few benefits but their are many, many more). I pair my ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting. I fast for 16, 18 or sometimes 20 hours. Sounds like a lot right? At least 8 of them I'm sleeping. Broccoli #pesto and brown rice with chia #pasta, accompanied with sautéed vegetables. I created the broccoli pesto as my hubby is not a lover of basil, so I thought, something green, broccoli, that will do 🥦👍 . Pesto recipe: ❇️ 150g broccoli florets ❇️ 3 tbsp raw cashew nuts ❇️ 1 tbsp pine nuts, lightly toasted ❇️ 30g parmesan cheese, grated finely ❇️ Pinch sea salt flakes ❇️ 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil . Method: Blend all ingredients together in a blender until combined. Do not over blend as you still want a little texture . NOTE 📝: Store leftover pesto in the fridge. Drizzle a little olive oil over the top before storing. And the pasta I used was a @colessupermarkets brand, which you can find in the health aisle . Chopped Salad: local baby lettuce, carrots, orange bell pepper, raw shredded beets, grilled corn, garbonzo beans, tamari raw pumpkin seeds, golden raisins, onion and chopped avocado. Topped with a veggie burger. Dressing is apple cider vinegar, mustard and onion salt from Trader Joes. Lettuce, carrots and bell pepper are chopped using oxo salad chopper. It's so important to get a variety of veggies and the more you eat the better. Chopping it up real small makes it easier to eat more of it.
